I’m frustrated. I use SPF, RBLs and bayesian filters and I’m still getting more spam than I want.
I don’t exactly trust either black lists or white lists, then require too much effort because of email address spoofing and creating word block lists is equally a waste of time as email spammers will misspell words on purpose to get past the filters.
Maybe I’m being impatient, but I’ve lost a bit of hope in this endeavor. (I’m not giving up, just losing a bit of hope) Perhaps the existing technologies need more time to become more pervasive, but then again if education and time were the only things necessary there wouldn’t be any more open relays.
Perhaps the most disappointing thing in my recent experience is dealing with the users. On the one hand they complain about getting too many spam messages, then in the next breath they are upset that an email message they sent out got caught by the spam filters for having a moderately sexually related word in the email message.
At some point the rock and the hard place is either going to be solved, or it will become comfortable and seem like home … Either way, I’m getting impatient …
